Summer reading . . . pandemic style
For the second year, WCCLS transformed our summer reading program and coordinated a massive countywide book distribution program for Washington County kids. Instead of kids having to come to the library during a pandemic . . . we took our libraries to the families . . . at 62 different parks, free lunch sites and food pantries.
Here are some highlights:
- We put 17,000 books into the hands of Washington County kids (we beat our own record of 10,000 books from last year).
- Our member libraries gave away books at 62 free lunch sites, food pantries and public parks.
- All 16 member library locations participated.
